Being a Star Backstage
Dr. Wilson
There is plenty of talent out there. An important element of being invited back again and again is being easy to work with backstage. The audience only has to deal with you for a few minutes, but everyone else has to deal with you for a couple of hours. Make that a positive experience! In this class, we will use both common sense and our shared experiences to develop you into a backstage star.

Ethnicity in Burlesque Panel
Honey Suckle Duvet (Mod), Miss Huff, Akynos
A panel discussion, moderated by the alluring and eloquent Honey Suckle Duvet about Burlesque and ethnicity.  When you are baring all, does your color matter?  And how does the Burlesque experience differ depending upon ethnicity for both audience and performers?

LGBTIQ  Panel
Hypergender (Mod), Jacqueline Hyde, Betty Blaize
This panel will discuss what are some issues that are specific to LGBTIQ performers?  What does it mean to perform to “straight” vs. “queer” audience? Is there a queer burlesque as a subgenre of burlesque or are we all queer anyway? If there is such a thing as queer burlesque, can a non LGBTIQ performer perform in this genre? (is it called queer because of style or because of a performer).  What is the reception of “queer” acts in the more mainstream burlesque? Is queer burlesque discouraged in some venues because it may be seen “offensive.”  If “girl on girl” sexuality is potrayed to titilate the male audience is this still “queer”?

Regional Differences Panel
Hypergender, Michelle L’Amour, Miss Mina
East Cost/West Coast, Boston, LA, New York, Seattle – regional Burlesque has as many styles and flavors as there are performers.  What are some of the hallmarks of the current neo Burlesque regions?  What are some of the differences in performers, venues and shows?

What Makes Classic Classic?
